Great summaries and viewpoints you have there! I read the whole manga a few years after i watched the anime. I was disappointed at the adrupt ending to the anime, but yes, the KareKano manga is my favourite out of everything else. It beats Hana yori Dango, Hana Kimi, Fruits Basket and other shojo / romance mangas - its deeper, its more realistic, there's a story about all the main characters, and the part towards the ending about Arima's father was absolutely shocking for me, a very pleasant surprise!

Everyone who loved the anime MUST MUST MUST read the manga! I'm reading it over again and i'm still crying in some scenes T~T

On a side note, I really like Fruits Basket, but it peed me off that the main girl was ALWAYS right - that downgrades the manga for me each time.

The episodes 17 to the end were not directed by Anno, and I quickly realised that the manga involvement and the entire serie's quality deteriorated because of that. It was a huge dissappointment cause I have come to expect so much. Ah well, the manga is the only way to go then. I would've rated the anime much higher if the other director (can't remember name) had not 'crashed' the story so completely.
