@Hige: I found this film to be one I could enjoy in a conventional sense - that is, it's great entertainment that doesn't necessarily require much headscratching. Maybe it was a change of pace for Kon too, being able to just have his creative team run riot. The soundtrack is fantastic though - I have the mp3 for that theme tune somewhere but I need to get hold of the CD. The Tokita x Chiba thing felt a bit off to me at first, but then I realised it was just a case of 'doing different'. It's a refreshing change really.

Paprika definitely seemed to reflect Kon the animator rather than Kon the storyteller. Like you say, the story in it is interesting and pleasantly character-driven, but it doesn't have the same impact as his previous work. But then I doubt hard-hitting impact is what Kon was going for in Paprika, and I still find it an incredibly refreshing exhilarating experience. And I agree about the music, too. I found Hirasawa’s music in Paranoia Agent mismatched and a bit naff (bar the absolutely mental OP which suits the bleakly hilarious visuals well), but it works brilliantly in Paprika.

Oh, and I thought the little romantic twist regarding Tokita and Chiba was sweet and unconventional. It's rare for larger characters in anime to be objects of affection.
