It's more than just "worth" seeing. Another Miyazaki masterpiece. Visually stunning. Great Flash integration. Captivating and realistic character's. Tulu is probably the worst character of all, I will admit. But in a sense you'll see yourself as being tulu, or possibly Shunak.

There is hardly an anime to date that does not have "recycled" ideas. Most that don't are just awful and have little cinematic value. Put it this way If you enjoy good Animated movies, or enjoy the sense of true "art" in cinema or Anime - Then watch it and enjoy. If not , go back to your emo music and yuppie Starbucks.

@Orion: I'd say it's worth watching (there's a R1 release but no UK R2 at the time of writing), if only for the cinematic prettiness. It needs moar ohmu though. :P

@IKnight: Imagine Last Exile, only on a movie budget. It is indeed very impressive in that sense.

@Hige: "all tits and no brains" lol. I can think of a few shows that fit that analogy. Sadly this is one of them - it's not a 'thinking fan's anime', that's for sure! There's also a lot of potential for a Spot the Nausicaa Reference drinking game to play while watching, although it borrows ideas from others too. Maybe there's some nostalgia value to be had from it, depending on your own stance on the recycling of ideas.

I'm a bit jaded with anime that's basically all tits and no brains. The second GitS film taught a valuable lesson in how flash doesn't compensate for inadequacies elsewhere. Equally, any amount of early Ghibli films proved that a humble budget is enough to make something amazing.
