@IKnight: Jouslain is an interesting character indeed. It's great to see the individual members of the clan having such varying opinions on how things should be run. I'm hoping Fan's role continues to be important though, because right now he isn't doing a great deal.

@Ghostlightning: Ariabart made a good comeback in regaining his honour and learning from his mistakes but for some reason Idris strikes me as a bit of a dark horse in the succession stakes. We'll have to wait and see.

@Peter S: I suppose they decided that there's no topping LotGH so they are indeed shaking things up a bit. There's that humorous aspect (and, shock horror, important female characters) which makes it a bit more accessible I think.

@Christina: thanks. I thought you were a feedscraper at first but it appears you run a Naruto fansite. My bad. ^_^'

The Tytania clan's story is such an absurd costume drama that I can't help but laugh at it, and I think we're supposed to. My god, that over-the-top opening song! Tell me there's no intent at parody there. And by showing Fan's more carefree view of things I believe the animators are trying to shake up the concept of these grand space opera shows.

While IKnight didn't endorse Jouslain, only identified him (correctly, IMO) as a protagonist. I'm fully backing Ariabart's bid for succession. I am a complete sucker for redemption stories and I think Ariabart has a good one in him.

Also, I imagine that Jouslain's devotion to Tytania and its future, as well as his innovation and overall demeanor will get him killed. I don't know how or when, but I feel that death is at the end of his corridor.

Ariabart honors him and will succeed Ajman.

Jouslain might deserve to be placed alongside Fan as a protagonist and as someone who thinks outside of the Tytanian box. He hasn't come right out and said it yet, but there've been moments when he's seemed to be considering Tytania's system dispassionately. When he wondered about the seductive political power of Tytania at the end of the fifth episode, for example, or when he remarked sadly on his failure at the end of the sixth. This 'outside-the-box-ness' (very corporate jargon-y in here) might be why Ajman thinks Jouslain is both a suitable and a dangerous candidate to rule Tytania.

But hey, Fan's cool, even if he doesn't join his opponents in recognising the benefits of a cup of tea.
