About

ConcreteBadger.net began life as an exercise in teaching myself web design and airing my views on music and film while I was in post-graduate limbo and desparately looking for a career opportunity. I’ve found a full-time job since then but after realising that some people actually visit the site and that I can’t help but force my opinions onto the world via the ‘net, I decided to keep going with it. From a recurring sense of dissatisfaction with my own coding and design skills as much as anything, CB.net has undergone numerous format changes and now a series of coincidences has brought the main part of the site, the Reviews Archive, to this very smart and shiny point.

This is where my book reviews, music reviews and commentary, DVD reviews of feature films and TV series, are posted. It’s all running on Wordpress now as my anime and manga review blog, the End of the World, is. In keeping with the theme derived from the Haruki Murakami book of the same name, I thought it was appropriate to title my other, parallel blog, The Hard-Boiled Wonderland. Just so you know. The theme, by the way, is currently one of my own design (based loosely on the Kubrik structure with my own CSS style) and named Where the Light Gets In, in honour of Sennen’s latest album.

A-Z listings of all review sub-categories (now known as ‘tags’ in the new version of Wordpress), categories and archives can be found via the links above. The sidebar lists useful links to other blogs/sites I recommend that you should visit when you have the time, latest reviews added and the most recent comments from visitors. The usual ‘blog stuff’. I hope you enjoy reading - some of the reviews are pretty old and their quality embarrassing I know, but it’s all a learning curve powered by enthusiasm. And Wordpress. And copious quantities of coffee.
